Studied Biology, then Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. PhD at University of Natal, South Arica. Researcher at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory since 1989, was its director during 2007-2015. Research focus: Phytoplankton ecology and development of methods for improving phytoplankton biomass estimation. Aquatic Food-web interactions and their responses to anthropogenic stresses. The impact of water level fluctuations on lake ecosystems. With major attention to Lake Kinneret, Israel.
