Byran Fuhrmann

Dr. Byran Fuhrmann aims to use his expertise in environmental economics combined with a systems thinking approach to identify practical, cost-effective solutions for improving water quality. As a former Aquatic Technology Development Scientist, Byran is the lead inventor of 6 patents and 4 commercial products designed to improve lake water quality. In this role, he also served as the company's scientific advisor on eutrophication, overseeing the successful restoration of hundreds of ponds and dozens of lakes across the United States. Byran is currently the Environmental Chemist at LSI and the founder of a nonprofit organization that helps provide clean drinking water to impoverished communities, a mission that has led him to relocate from the US to Manila, Philippines. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems, an MBA, an MS in Environmental Engineering Sciences, and a BS in Chemistry. Byran is the past president and current president-elect of the California Lake Management Society (CALMS) and a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Source Water Protection Committee.
