Adam O Karia
Prof. Dr. Adam O. Karia (PhD) has served as the Rector and Chief Executive Officer of
the Water Institute in Tanzania since January 20, 2020. He is also a Special Professor
of Water Management at the United African Institute of Technology in Rwanda (UAIT).
From August 30, 2019, to January 19, 2020, he held the position of Acting Rector and
Chief Executive Officer of the Water Institute. Additionally, he was the Deputy Rector
responsible for Planning, Finance, and Administration from March 1, 2013, to August
30, 2019.
Prof. Dr. Adam O. Karia (PhD) holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership from the
Uongozi Institute of Tanzania, in collaboration with Aalto University of Finland, a
Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Kisii University, Kenya, and a
Master's Degree along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology and
Management from the Institute of Finance Management in Tanzania, in collaboration
with Avinashilingam University of India. He also possesses an undergraduate
background in water and civil engineering and teaching. Additionally, he has published
several papers in reputable journals on Strategic Human Resource Management, Water
Resources Management, Water Supply Systems, Water Governance, and
Transboundary Waters.
Prof. Dr. Adam O. Karia (PhD) teaches business analysis, contingency planning for
organizations, strategic planning, change management, design thinking, strategic
communication, leadership in people and projects, water resources management, water
governance, water and sanitation in both development and emergency/disaster
contexts, ethical leadership, team management systems, performance management,
and critical thinking.
