Hiroshi Yajima

Hiroshi Yajima is a Professor and the Director of the Estuary Research Center at Shimane University, Japan. He also leads the Hydrodynamics Division within the center. Before joining Shimane University, he worked as a river planning engineer and spent two decades at Tottori University’s Department of Civil Engineering. He holds a master's and a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from Kyoto University. His research focuses on water quality dynamics in lakes, reservoirs, and estuarine environments. He integrates field surveys with advanced hydro-ecological modeling, particularly utilizing and contributing to the development of AEM3D, originally created at the Centre for Water Research, the University of Western Australia. His work spans both brackish and freshwater systems, addressing environmental challenges through data-driven analysis and simulations.
